matthews trip to the hospital

This is matthews door.
First night there. He was not happy about it.
This was wednesday morning. Still no smiles
He had been crying most of the night and morning
but by afternoon he was feeling a little better
Thursday day. Feeling lots better.

As most of you know Matthew was put in the hospital Tuesday night.
he had been throwing up since Friday and had diarrhea since Sunday. I got him
to the doctor on Monday but my regular doctor was not in so i saw someone
else and he said to just give him pedia light. He ended up throwing that up
every time i gave it to him. So Tuesday night i took him to another doctor and he said
he needed to be admitted for dehydration. Matthew had not been himself
since the week before.
So into the hospital we went. He had to be poked and prodded and i felt so so bad.
He did not pee till 245 Wednesday morning. But would not eat anything they
brought him the whole day. So the doctor and said he did not want him to got till he ate and
kept it down. We gave him pedia light and he would take that, and he still had
the IV in.
Thursday he still didn't want to eat anything and they had finally moved up to
formula. I finally convinced them to let me try some regular food. We gave him sweet
potatoes and he kept those down for lunch but did not want anything else. That
night i gave him a little bit of my dinner and they un plugged him from the IV and his
monitors. He was playing and laughing and my mom came in with a bunch of stuff and he
played and played and ate some banana and puff treats. Feeling better. but they still
wanted to see if he would keep it down and i was a little nervous.
so we stayed again.
Friday morning feeling LOADS better. i even got to sleep in a bit. So we got
to go home. We were told to watch for any signs of him going backwards
instead of forwards. But my little boy finally had a smile that reached his ears and
he was so much happier. AH!!!

Matthews 12 month checkup

Most of you know how small he is. He has always been pretty small. He was 6lb 12oz when he was born and before we left the hospital he was 5lb 12oz. But slowly got up there.

I was always a little nervous about how small he was and have been kind of self-conscious about it as a mother. The boy eats like a teenage boy though so it makes me feel a little better.

We took him to his 12 month appointment and he wieghed 16.3lbs and is 27 inches long. At his 9 month he was 15 lbs. so he did not move up alot. The doctor says he is very well proportioned but he is in the 3rd percentile and has stopped growing all around like he should. So he is getting to the point were he is starting to worry. Not that he is unhealthy but that he is just really really small.

We have been asking around in the family to see what some of the height is. There is alot of short people here and there but not enough to know weather or not he could have a possibility of dwarfism. Alot of the people we found short are back enough that there is no real way of diagnosing them.

The doctor in the meantime is going to continue to check on signs and some tests we can do that will not send us to the endocrinologist up in primary children's. we will let you know in the meantime if anything changes.

love you all
